Mason County Dems Work Adopt-a-Highway Spring Clean Up
Blue skies, sunshine and warm weather were with a group of volunteers from the Mason County Democratic Party for its Adopt-a-Highway (AAH) Spring Clean Up, Saturday afternoon, April 12.
Paul Spaniola led a crew of 15 who worked their way along busy Ludington Avenue, from Rotary Park to Jebavy Road, picking up trash.
As our youngest volunteer said of the experience: “It’s my job. I live here. I want it to be nice!”
It’s straight forward. We’re all responsible to keep the place we live clean. Why not keep a trash bag in the car, take one on walks, and adopt a road and pick up trash when we see it. Be mindful not to litter and call out those who do. This is what we can do to nurture the planet for future generations.
Since 1990, Adopt-a-Highway local groups have collected over a million bags of trash. Currently 2,900 groups are participating in the program and have adopted over 6,000 miles of Michigan highways. The Mason County Dems supports this program and encourages others to do the same.
